Wrapping up 2017 with gratitude

On December 1, 2016, I Know Somebody Houston honored some of our supporters. It was tough narrowing the list down to 10. There are so many people that offer their time, talents, and gifts. Being filled with gratitude for all of our members and opportunities to serve, we want to bring attention to those, on this very short list, that do.

Phyllis Bailey – Phyllis Bailey is a Public Relations  professional (http://www.3brg.com/) and has been a supporter of IKSH from its inception. She has attended many of our events, has brought women with her,  and added women to our group. She has introduced us to possible speakers and other supporters.

Kim Roxie – Kim is the owner/operator of Lamik Beauty (http://www.lamik-beauty.com/), a gorgeous salon on Greenbriar and Westheimer. Kim has blessed IKSH with the use of her venue, she has participated as a speaker and has promoted our events and our cause. kim-lamik

Jim Grimm – Jim is the son of IKSH Board member,  Sandy Lawrence.   After hearing about our fundraising campaign for the kids at Weaver Road Apartments, Jim made a sizeable donation to IKSH. That donation allowed us to purchase gifts for every child at Weaver Road Apartments for Christmas last year. jim-grimm

Misti Pace-Krahl – Misti is the brain behind The Mommie Series (https://www.facebook.com/The-Mommie-Series-Houston-236673119693684/?fref=ts). When we approached Misti about speaking at our annual Firestarters event, she said yes.  She brought several guests with her and  all made donations that night, setting an IKSH record for event donations.misti-pace

Pam Terry – Pam Terry is the In-Demand Speaker (https://www.facebook.com/MasteringPublicSpeaking/?pnref=lhc) and has said yes every time we’ve asked her to speak.  She even led the board in one of her signature 7 Word Power Statement workshops. Pam’s workshop was very beneficial to the unity of our board. And her participation in our events is top notch.pam-terry-2

Sharon Zapata – Sharon Zapata of The Zapata Group (https://www.facebook.com/thezapatagrouphouston/?pnref=lhc) approached IKSH at the inception of our annual backpack drive. With her energy and enthusiasm, we agreed to double our efforts and try to do more. And MORE we did! We delivered over 100 backpacks, each one stocked with school supplies. Sharon and her family also showed up for the drop, staying and helping to the end.  sharon-zapata

Joy Sewing – Joy, like Phyllis, has been a supporter since the beginning.  Joy was the speaker at our first event.  Celebrating her Year of Joy, Joy has participated every time she has been asked, speaking, emceeing, and  she even helped host a Kaanga class. joy-sewing-2

Margo Stutts Toombs – Margo is an actress and showed up at our first event and has been showing up ever since. Every time we post a fundraiser Margo donates. Margo is quiet a supporter, one of the best! IKS is blessed to have women like Margo in our group. margotMRaye Allen and the Houston Power Professionals – Michelle and her group, the Houston Power Professionals (https://www.facebook.com/groups/houstonpowerpros/) have also been staunch supporters of our group. Michelle is a great collaborator. The Houston Power Professionals were key to our backpack drive this year. They donated supplies and money! houston-power-professionals

Shana Ross – Shana and her studio, Shana Ross Fitness Studio (http://www.shanarossfitness.com/) in the Heights, not only support IKSH with her presence but she pulled all of her clients in to support us as well. Drop boxes came back stuffed with backpacks and holiday gifts for the kids at Weaver Road who were so grateful to receive the gifts. Shana has participated in many ways, even by performing at our lip sync competition earlier this year.shana-ross
